PUPPIES!

Nelson was mated to a beautiful brindle bitch, Ollesempire Midnight Star owned by Sakazoke kennels, just before Christmas. Poppy was scanned today and it was confirmed she is carrying 4-5 puppies! Fantastic news! I will keep you all updated with a pictures and news. In the mean time, if you are interested in a puppy sired by Hillplace Captain Scarlet feel free to contact us and we will pass your details on to the bitches owner.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

What a year 2009 has been for Purebully Bulldogs! We have achieved so much both in and out of the ring. Nelson started off the year on a high gaining a Reserve Challenge Certificate at the London Bulldog Society Champ show in January, judged by breed specialist Pat Davis. He then went on through the year to gain 1 Utility Group win, 1 Reserve Best Dog, 12 Firsts at Open shows, 4 Firsts at Championship shows, 2 Reserve Best of Breeds and 8 Best of Breeds! To say he has exceeded our hopes would be an understatement, we are so proud of him!

Out of the ring, Nelson put his thinking cap on and gained his Gold Kennel Club Good Citizen Award in March, just three days before our first visit to Crufts where he then achieved a First in the Good Citizen class.

All in all, it has been an amazing year, and I hope we can continue to succeed. But none of our achievements could have been possible without the help of Maria and Ralph Taylor of Hillplace Bulldogs. They have given us so much help, advice and patience, we really do thank them dearly!

So, Happy New Year to all our friends, in and out of the ring, and here's to a successful 2010!

British Bulldog Club Championship Show

We are absolutely delighted to announce Nelson's latest success in the ring. He was placed First in Post Graduate Dog at the British Bulldog Club Championship show under breed specialist judge Chris Thomas (Kingrock). Hope to share photos of the day with you all soon!

Beckenham Canine Society Critique

This weeks edition of Dog World newspaper includes our critique from the Beckenham Canine Society show where Nelson was awarded First in Open and Best of Breed under breed judge Gina Thorpe:

'What a worthy winner. R/w standard dog, head of correct shape, good ear placement, dark eyes & broad muzzle, shoulders & brisket give him good front spring of rib to nice tuck up, hocks slightly bent & well let down, a very balanced dog'

Our thanks to Gina for such a lovely critique!

Discover Dogs @ Earls Court

We have had a great, but very tiring day out at Earls Court in London today with Nelson. This is the second year in a row we have helped to man the Bulldog stand at the event and once agin, we enjoyed every minute! Nelson made so many friends and really lapped up all of the attention.

It is a real honour to be invited to represent the breed at events such as Discover Dogs. It gives us such a great oppertunity to promote the breed to the public and show them the improvements that have been made to the breed in recent years and the changes that good breeders continue to strive for. But more importantly, we can educate potential owners. I spoke to many people on the day who love the breed and want to know where to start to look for a pup of their own. It is at this level that most of our work needs to focus, only by educating the public can we eradicate the 'backyard breeders' that are breeding unhealthy dogs and giving the breed such a poor reputation.

Cholto Puppies

At last!! the weight is over! Maisie (Hillplace ironic for Cholto) has had her litter or 4 girls and 2 boys. They all look absolutely beautiful, as you can see from the photo below. Our best wishes to Ann & Rob from Cholto Bulldogs and of course to Maisie, we can't wait to see the puppies grow.

Nelson's Trophy

As promised, here is a picture of Nelson with his lovely little Bulldog trophy that he won at the London Bulldog Society Limit Show.

Hillplace Ironic for Cholto day 55

I am receiving regular updates from our good friends, Ann & Rob Waters. Their Hillplace bitch is currently in whelp after being put to INT & UK.CH Ocobo Freddy Mystyle. Maisie, as she is known at home, is looking fantastic so far in to her pregnancy and I am just itching to see her litter when they arrive!

Here is a picture of Maisie blooming at day 55!

Richmond Critique

The critiques from the Richmond Championship Show have been published in 'Dog World' paper this week. Nelson was placed second in the Post Graduate class and I am delighted with Peter Booth's crit:

'R/w turned out in immaculate condition, good width & sweep of underjaw, nice dark eye, correct thin ears, ample barrel of rib, good topline, moved well'.

London Bulldog Society Critique

Sara Lamont, judged at the London Bulldog Society, lets us in on her critiques from the day where Nelson won his class and got RBD. Here is Nelson's:

'Ive judged this male before, he's an upstanding R/W with the most appealing expression due to his super dark eyes, low set ears and big black nose. Good width and turn of jaw finishes the picture. He's well boned with compact feet and another super mover due to his well laid shoulders and angulated rear quaters plus length of body'

Gravesend & Medway Open

The second show of the weekend and we are off to Maidstone for the Gravesend & Medway Open show juded by John Sargeant (Smackerjacks). Nelson wins his class taking home another red First rossette. Another great weekend for us!

Junior Bulldog Club

Our first show of the weekend is in Luton for the Junior Bulldog Club Championship Show. The venue is lovely, spacious and bright, and a beautiful new blue carpet lines the ring which makes the dogs look their best. The show is judged by Alison Gunson (Wyecaple) and I am pleased to say Nelson was awarded First in Post Graduate Dog. Another great day! A small well done to all comitee memebers on a very well organised show!

Beckenham Open & LBS Limit

What a fantastic day we have had! First was the Beckenham Open show, judged by Gina Thorpe of Robubull Bulldogs. Nelson gets a First in Open and then wins Best of Breed! If that wasn't enough for one day we pack up the car and drive 15 minutes down the road in time for the London Bulldog Society Limit show. We always enjoy the shows held by this club, the commitee are always very freindly and the show is so well organised. Nelson wins First in Open! I'm delighted with the result and then to top it all, he is awarded Reserve Best Dog!! What a great day!! My sincere thanks to Gina and Sara Lamont of LaRoyal Bulldogs for our placings at both shows. We have a lovely trophy from the day, photos to follow shortly!
